Two Takes on Editorial

It has been said that opposites attract, which is exactly what I did when I created two completely opposite stylized editorial pieces. I found the article, “Fashion Gets Personal”, which is not too long in length, but has a large amount of body copy perfect to use to create two different layouts. The blog article itself, had enough substance that I automatically had ideas. Fashion shows are largely known, in my head I picture a tall female supermodel in a long gown, which I illustrated in vector art that inspired the first editorial spread. In the second spread, I took on the idea that fashion can be used as a trnasformation, butterflies are a symbol, which is how I created the second editorial spread. Again, the spread uses vector illustration to further showcase the story of the article. Even though both use vector are, one showcases a delicate and whimsical approach, where the second is more of a metaphor and leaves room for interpretation.
